Time of my/ our/ your/ their life/ lives

Steps to get wet

(for teachers), courtesy of Mr Ben Soh
1: Tell your students not to tau pok you.
2: get surrounded by your students
3: plead for help but to no avail
4: beg for mercy, and ask them to remove your wallet and phone.
5: resign to the fact they are going to throw you into the pool
6: grab a student's pants as you make your way into the pool, for good measure.

(for students)- method A, courtesy of Glenn
1: laugh loudly as you watch the teacher make his way to the pool
2: stand closest to his hands
3: beg for mercy as you plead with him to let go
4: ask your friends not to throw him in as a last resort, knowing your pants are in a tight grip.
5: get into the pool, realising that your wallet and phone are still in your pocket.
6: swear upon realising that you have no extra clothes.

(for students)- method B, courtesy of Ivan
1: sneak in on a CLP exco meeting
2: volunteer to be the camera man
3: turn around, with a face of victory as CLP identifies you as the next target behind your back
4: film the opening scene, before the drop the " first target" and go for you.
5: plead for mercy

All this happened at Mr Soh's house as our hockey season for 2007 officially came to a close.

Finished.
The End.
The end of the road.
Chapter closed.

Mr Danker sang a modified version of Time of your life.
This hockey journey, from the very first day when the DSA kids joined us, through the december camp and Malaysia trip, the U-18 tournamnet and A div, before it came to a close at Mr Soh's house.
It has really been one heck of a ride.
It really has been the Time of my/ our/ your/ their life/ lives.

If i could, i'd relive it all over again.

happy times, sad times

We were sitting during lunch, and just thinking.

If only we had made the finals.
If only we had not conceded that goal.
If only we had won either ACJC, VJC and topped our group.
IF IF IF.....
Big ifs, big questions unanswered.

If only we made it.....
We'd be still training, evening pitch, saturday pitch, stick sessions in school.
We would not be so free.
But what to do, except reflect on the happy and sad times.

Happy times:
  • Scoring those last minute goals against ACS (i), VS, TJC in the u-18 tournaments.
  • Winning THAT dramatic 3 way penalty shoot out against VJ and ACJC.
  • The many talk cock session at dinner, cooling down, etc.
  • Early dimissals from class.
  • Camp in december and Malaysia trip.

Sad times

  • That feeling when we failed to win against JJC , knwoing that only a win would help us qualify for the semis in the u-18.
  • The tears shed when we lost to RJ in the semis, knowing that our chance had just gone.

I just wish we could relive it all over again.

Such a glorious experience, priceless to some, invaluable to many., unwilling to be traded be all.

The long journey ended

Well, its all come to an end now.
After training for so long, since October 2006, the season has now come and gone.

It seems so recent when i first came for training.
And the memory is still fresh in my mind how the new j1s all came, and that very first meal with them at coronation.
As well as how Glenn vomitted at his first training session, right in front of my very eyes.

Fitness: laps of honour, 2.4 time trials/ warm up, long runs to bishan.
Stregth: gym, phantom chair, x-man, bridge.
Agility: step ladder, jumps.
Pitch: 3 man transfers, tackiling drill, dribbling exercises.
Game prep: early dimissal, the bus journey, video session.
Camps: december, and trip to Malaysia.

As we all sat on the ground, drained.
Faces with exhaustion, asking ourselves why we put oursleves through all that.
Yet, we feel a sense of accomplishment, and feel a sense of gladness.
We wish we did not have to do all that intense physical training,
Yet thank God that he gave us this time together as we bonded together.
We complain about the intensity and frequency of the trainings while knowing that trainijng was like a big part of our lives.

I'd miss all of that.
A unique experience, which cannot be replicated.
A time made special, only because of the people around me who each played his part in making it memorable.

The j1s, j2s, both girls and guys teams.
All helped in forming this memory.
Each playing a different role.
New friendships made, old friendships renewed, friendships strengthened.
Secrets shared, gossips spread, habits learned.

Honestly, it is not on the pitch that we all bond, but off it.
At the numerous meals after trainings.
In the shower as we called for soap and opened cubicle doors.
All the talk cock session while waiting for trainings.
All that supposed study times which morphed into times which we didnt study at all.

In a way, i kind of looked forward to the season ending, so that i'd get a lot more free time.
But i know, i want to train more.
So that i would be able to bond more with the team.

I definetely would miss this.
I wish it could be extended.
